The Dolomite Ladins

The Dolomite Ladins live in the four valleys which radiate from the Sella Group of mountains (3152 metres); to the south-west Fascia, to the north-west Gherdëina, to the north-east Val Badia with Mareo, to the south-east Fodom and Col; to the east the Boite Valley with Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Ladin speaking minority is divided across two Regions (Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and Veneto) and three Provinces (Bolzano, Trento and Belluno). The number of native speakers is estimated to be about 30,000.
